Chaise LoungeRating: Sturdy wood. Easy to assemble, However there are two metal flat rectangular pieces with two holes in each end that did not fit the holes already drilled in the lounge chair. I am not sure if I will need these pieces, but I may be able to salvage them if I drill a new set of holes in the lounge chair to fit the holes in the metal piece. I shouldn't have to do that to make it fit. Manufacturer needs to look at this to see why this doesn't line up. I purchased a recommended UV resistant Cushion to go on top, as the surface of the lounge chair is quite hard. I would rate this a 4 overall.show more

Wood Lounge Chair

Hailed by Time magazine as the Best Design of the 20th Century, the iconic LCW or “Lounge Chair Wood” began as an experiment in the Eameses’ apartment, where they were molding plywood in what they called the “Kazam! Machine.” The machine pressed thin sheets of wood veneer against a heated membrane that was inflated by a bicycle pump. Humble beginnings for what would become one of the world’s most widely recognized and highly coveted chairs. Low-slung, with an expertly crafted molded seat and back (no bike pumps are used today), this chair cradles you in a comfortable position while rubber shock mounts buffer against jarring movement. This original is an authentic product of Herman Miller®, Inc. Eames is a licensed trademark of Herman Miller. Made in U.S.A.

Great Chaise, Terrible AssemblyRating: At the age of 67, I have assembled many pieces of furniture, either to save money, or to get the features I wanted. This chaise was the WORST assembly experience ever! The “instructions” were vague, and the sketches were so vague that you could not tell where to attach each piece. After much trial and error, I then discovered that the pieces did not always match up to the holes, and had to force parts together while at the same time inserting the screws. That said, this is exactly what I wanted in an outdoor chaise. The material is more comfortable than a solid plastic or wood surface would be, and the back DOES fold down flat for sunbathing on your stomach, contrary to what the Q&A section says. That answer may have been to indicate that the chair can't fold up for storage. I will post photos of the misalignment of parts, the actual instructions, and a shot of how the chair can go down flat.show more
